How to easily use FRIGIDAIRE EFIC255

To refill the water reservoir on your Countertop Crunchy Ice dispenser, 1st remove it from the top of the appliance. Place the bottom of the reservoir up, open the cap, and pour potable water into the reservoir. The reservoir can hold up to 0.97 gallons 3.7 liters of water at a time. Once you have finished filling the reservoir, screw the cap back on and return the reservoir to the top of the appliance. Before putting the drawer back in place, ensure that the water tank under the drawer is empty. If it is not, unplug the water drain cap to totally drain the water. Then place the drip tray in position.

Before starting the nugget ice making procedure, be sure to check the drain pipe and drain pipe plug on the back of the Frigidaire Nugget Ice Machine. We are huge fans of Chewable/Crunchy Nugget Ice and have been going to Sonic to get it for parties and summer ice chest fill-ups for years. We have owned a GE Opal 2.0 ice maker, which is known for producing great nugget ice at home, and this machine is almost as good but costs at least $100 less. The main difference between the two is that the Opal comes with (or can be paired with) an external water tank for easier and less frequent filling. The Opal can also be scheduled and controlled via an app, which is helpful because all of these ice makers stop when they’re full and don’t restart until opened and closed again. The Opal also has the advantage of turning off at night and turning on in the morning, so we wake up to a fresh, full nugget ice bin. However, this model has some big benefits too. It makes ice much faster, filling the 3 lb bin in about an hour and a half (40% faster than the Opal). It’s also much more affordable than the Opal, which usually costs over $500. Overall, we are satisfied with this EFIC255 Chewable Nugget ice machine and appreciate its fast ice production and lower price point.
